Economic and cultural relations between Georgia and China are continuously growing. Chinese entrepreneurs have been operating in Georgia for many years, and simultaneously, the Georgian business community is gradually adapting and gaining a foothold in the Chinese market. The Belt and Road Business House is one example of this. We discussed their success story and future plans with Salome Tsikhiseli, the Head of the Public Relations Department of the Belt and Road Georgia Business House

 

随着中国与格鲁吉亚在经济和文化领域交往持续增多,近年来越来越多中国企业到格鲁吉亚投资兴业。与此同时,格鲁吉亚商界也开始尝试进入中国市场,“一带一路”商务馆就是其中的典型之一。今天,我邀请了格鲁吉亚“一带一路”商务馆公关部负责人萨洛梅·齐克希塞利,带大家一起走进商务馆,听一听这里的故事。

Shalva Chikhladze: Can you tell us more about the origins of the Georgian One Belt One Road Business House? What inspired its creation in 2018?

 

尚可:请问创建格鲁吉亚“一带一路”商务馆的初衷是什么,是什么原因想到要在2018年打造这样一个地方?

Salome Tsikhiseli: The "Belt and Road Georgian Business House" (hereinafter referred to as the Business House) is a non-profit international platform established in Georgia and China with the support of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The organization was registered in Georgia in 2018 and officially in China in 2022. The founders of the organization are Mr. Bekar Mikaberidze and Ms. Huang Yuzhen. The Belt and Road Georgian Business House is the only Georgian non-governmental organization officially accredited in China, and its business supervisory unit is the Guangdong CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion of International Trade of Guangdong Province).

 

There are three main companies operated under the Business House platform, which include international trade, international tourism and international technology companies. The Business House is located at One Link Plaza in the Yuexiu District, the central area of Guangzhou. There is a two-story building with a new permanent exhibition center on the eighth floor, where representatives from 25 countries along the Silk Road promote their products, tourism, appealing investment opportunities, culture, and history. On the ninth floor of the Business House, there is a Georgian restaurant that showcases Georgian cuisine and wine culture. Each month, the ninth floor hosts Culture Days for the 25 Silk Road countries, featuring their national dishes, cultures, traditions, songs, dances, and various cognitive and entertainment events.

 

The main goal of creating the organization was to introduce Georgia with all its resources not only to China, but to the whole world, to create an international platform on which the 25 countries of the Silk Road would connect with each other and conduct business partnership, trade, cultural exchange under one umbrella, establish friendly and profitable business-trade relations and exchange tourism, culture and technology between each other. The business House planned to continue to be established in a unified model in countries along the "Belt and Road", provincial capitals in China and more economically developed cities.

 

萨洛梅·齐克希塞利:格鲁吉亚“一带一路”商务馆(以下简称“商务馆”)是在格鲁吉亚工商会支持下,在格鲁吉亚和中国建立的非营利性国际平台。商务馆于2018年在格鲁吉亚注册,并于2022年正式在中国注册,创始人是格鲁吉亚工商会驻广东省代表主席贝卡·梅卡伯利兹和黄玉珍女士。商务馆是中国官方唯一认可的格鲁吉亚非政府组织,我们的业务主管单位是中国国际贸易促进委员会广东省委员会。

 

国际贸易公司、国际旅游公司和国际科技公司是我们商务馆旗下的三家主要企业。商务馆位于广东省广州市越秀区一德路的万菱广场。商务馆8楼新建了一个两层楼高的永久展厅,用来展出25个共建“一带一路”国家的特色美食、旅游发展、投资商机、以及文化和历史沿革。此外,商务馆9楼还有一家格鲁吉亚餐厅,用来展示格鲁吉亚当地美酒佳肴。每月,我们都会在9楼举办为期一周的“丝绸之路国家文化之旅”活动。活动期间,来自25个国家的嘉宾会集中展示各国的美食、文化、传统、音乐、舞蹈,并举办各类交流活动。

 

我们希望通过商务馆这样一个国际化平台,向中国和世界其他国家推介格鲁吉亚。同时,也希望它能成为拉近推动25个共建“一带一路”国家之间经贸合作、文化交流的平台,实现彼此间互利共赢、共同发展。下一步,商务馆还将继续把焦点放在共建“一带一路”国家、中国省会城市以及经济更加发达的城市。

 

Shalva Chikhladze: How has the organization's relationship with the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry influenced its growth and operations?

 

尚可:格鲁吉亚工商会对商务馆的运营和发展带来了哪些影响?

Salome Tsikhiseli: The Belt and Road Georgian Business House was founded with the support of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since its establishment, GCCI has been actively involved in several important activities, such as facilitating the participation of Georgian manufacturers in international exhibitions held in China and promoting their products in the Chinese market. The organization has also been responsible for officially receiving and hosting the Guangzhou and Guangdong Chambers of Commerce, organizing significant meetings, and inviting Georgian manufacturers and business sectors interested in the Chinese market, thereby connecting them with Chinese counterparts. In 2020, in cooperation with the GCCI a charity event dedicated to China was held in Tbilisi: "Show your support to China". The event turned out to be very large-scale, and the Chinese Embassy in Georgia thanked us for our cooperation and encouragement.

 

萨洛梅·齐克希塞利:“一带一路”格鲁吉亚商务馆是在格鲁吉亚工商会支持下成立的。依托商务馆,格鲁吉亚工商会参与了中国的几项重要活动。例如,邀请格鲁吉亚制造业企业参加在中国举办的各类博览会,帮助他们的产品打入中国市场。此外,商会还负责组织举办广东和广州商会的重要会议,以及邀请对中国市场感兴趣的格鲁吉亚制造业和商务部门来华投资发展,拉进两国企业之间的距离。2020年,我们和格鲁吉亚工商会合作,在第比利斯举办了一场名为“支持中国”的大型慈善活动。活动结束后,中国驻格鲁吉亚大使馆向我们表达了感谢。

Shalva Chikhladze: Among the seven main directions of the Business House, which one has seen the most growth or success since the organization's founding? Can you share some specific examples of successful import or export initiatives facilitated by the Business House?

 

尚可:据我所知,商务馆主要有七个业务方向。您认为,商务馆成立以来,在哪个业务板块做得最好、增长速度最快?您能分享几个具体成功案例吗?

 

Salome Tsikhiseli: Our Business House has 7 main directions: export, import, new technologies and production, tourism, catering and Georgian wine houses, logistics, education. Export, import, catering and Georgian Wine Houses, new technologies and production function best among the mentioned directions.

 

As above mentioned, several successful companies operate under the Business House, including import-export companies that have been importing Georgian own-brand alcoholic beverages on the Chinese market for more than 6 years. As of today, Georgian Wine Houses have been opened in three main cities: Guangzhou, Foshan and Tianjin, from which the National Museum of Georgian Wine is presented in the city of Guangzhou, where weekly wine tastings and seminars on Georgian wine culture are held. As for export, for more than 10 years, all kinds of products have been exported from China to Georgia and Transcaucasian countries according to demand: furniture, lighting, construction materials, light vehicles, light and heavy equipment, etc.

 

萨洛梅·齐克希塞利:我们商务馆有七大主要业务领域,包括出口、进口、新技术与生产、旅游业、餐饮业,以及格鲁吉亚酒庄的物流配送与培训服务。其中,进出口、餐饮、格鲁吉亚酒庄以及新技术与生产四大板块的业务增长较快。

 

上述业务板块中,几家格鲁吉亚企业在商务馆的帮助下实现了成功运营,其中包括在中国已经扎根6年的格鲁吉亚自有品牌酒精饮料企业。截至目前,格鲁吉亚酒庄已陆续在广州、佛山、天津等3个主要城市开业。格鲁吉亚红酒博物馆还会定期在广州组织格鲁吉亚葡萄酒品鉴和培训活动。至于出口方面,过去10年来,根据市场需求,大批中国产品出口到了格鲁吉亚以及高加索地区其他国家。出口产品包括,家具、灯具、建材、轻型汽车、轻重型设备等。

Shalva Chikhladze: How does the "Produce" direction work within the organization's framework? Are there any notable products or industries you're particularly focused on?

 

尚可:商务馆“生产”业务板块现在发展情况如何,有哪些值得关注的重点产品或产业?

 

Salome Tsikhiseli: In terms of production and technology, our production facility is located in Heze City, Shandong, at a factory covering an area of 30,000 square meters. Utilizing our own state-of-the-art processing technology, we produce premium quality ceramic wood from low-grade wood materials. This ceramic wood is used to create a wide variety of furniture, including tables, chairs, flooring, and brain-building toys, among other products.

 

Additionally, the first Georgian line of organic face care products was produced using Georgian technology. The creation and branding of these products were managed by Ms. Salome Tsikhiseli, an official member of the Business House. Currently, the production process is on hold because the products are undergoing rebranding and updates. The updated product line is expected to go on sale in Chinese-Georgian markets in 2025.

 

萨洛梅·齐克希塞利:在“生产和技术”业务板块,在山东省菏泽市,我们有一个占地面积3万平方米的工厂。利用格鲁吉亚先进的加工和处理技术,我们用低等木材是生产出了高质量的陶瓷木材。这种陶瓷木材能用来制作桌子、椅子、地板、益智玩具等各种产品。

 

此外,前几年第一条格鲁吉亚有机脸部护理系列产品生产线。产品品牌和创意是由商务馆正式成员莎乐美·齐希塞利女士负责。目前,产品正在进行品牌重塑和升级。预计2025年将在中国和格鲁吉亚两国推出。

尚可:说到“旅游”,商务馆如何顺应全球旅游业市场变化?

Salome Tsikhiseli: As for the direction of tourism, at this stage, the tourism company on our Business House platform carries out only high-level business tours, planning-organization of government visits and investment-oriented tourism from China to Georgia.

 

萨洛梅·齐克希塞利:在旅游方面,现阶段我们商务馆的旅游公司只接待高层及商务活动、策划组织政府访问,以及企业商务出行。
