The Nansha branch line of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is set to officially open to traffic in October, according to local media reports on Saturday.

The travel time between Nansha of Guangzhou and Shenzhen will be shortened from two hours to about 20 minutes, said Liu Wei, head of the Nansha district, during a recent government-business communication event in Guangzhou, South China's Guangdong Province.

通车后，广州与深圳两大超级城市将在南沙这一黄金交会点实现无缝连接，最短车程将缩短至20分钟以内。

The new line will boost connectivity between Guangzhou and Shenzhen and solidify Nansha's strategic role as a central hub in the GBA, Liu said.

广州市委常委、南沙区委书记刘炜表示，这条线的开通将巩固南沙作为大湾区中心枢纽的战略地位。

The asphalt paving for the Nansha link has been completed, with the construction of interchange ramps nearing 85 percent.

深中通道南沙线（南中高速万顷沙支线）沥青摊铺已完成，正开展剩余互通匝道沥青摊铺施工，完成比例约85%。

Groundbreaking for the Nansha Station is about to take place, with the facility intended to become one of the largest transportation hubs in the region, serving 80 million people and connecting more than 800,000 businesses within a one-hour drive.

南沙枢纽站也即将全面开工，将建成大湾区最大交通枢纽之一。以南沙为中心,大湾区“半小时交通圈”加速兑现;1小时车程范围内,可以辐射和服务8000万人,链接80多万户企业。

Transportation development has been key to the coordinated growth of the GBA. A "one-hour traffic circle" has come into being among Guangzhou, Shenzhen and some other cities in Guangdong, Liu said.

Experts noted that the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor is strategically important for promoting the integrated development of the region, enhancing connectivity among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and driving economic and industrial growth.

有专家指出，深中走廊对促进区域一体化发展，加强粤港澳互联互通，推动经济和工业增长具有重要战略意义。

According to data released by China's Ministry of Transport, nearly 60,000 vessels have departed from the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge Corridor since it opened to traffic in late June.

交通运输部海事局近日公布数据显示,深中通道开通以来，经深中大桥出海的船舶近6万艘次。

During the just-concluded Mid-Autumn Festival holidays from September 15 to 17, the highest single-day passenger flow via the bridge reached 105,000, according to media reports.

据媒体报道，在刚刚结束的中秋节假期期间，通过该桥的最高单日客流量达到10.5万人次。
